Mallam Nasir El-Rufai - VIP Of The Week

In the News...Basic Education is now BY FORCE in Kaduna State as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai sets out to ensure that every child from age 6, irrespective of gender, sex or background, has access to free and compulsory education.
This was made known to the public during the week at the launching of the Adolescent Girls' Initiative in Kaduna where he decried the poor education of adolescents and said his government is set to tackle this via provision of bursaries and scholarships, a free 9-year education policy which covers tuition, uniform and all associated costs from primary 1 to JSS 3. It should be noted that Mallam El-Rufai's administration is already running the  School Feeding programme that ensures that nearly 1.8 million pupils gets at least one meal a day in the schools.

A prohibition of street begging and hawking law will also take effect from next month and the interest of the child will be properly safeguarded under the state's newly modified Child Right Laws. Any parent who keeps their child/ward away from school will be duly punished under this law.

No child left behind, education for all children in difficult circumstances with access to complete, free and compulsory primary education of good quality is the overall objective. Kaduna State has added to her laurels as Nigeria's Center of Learning with this recent development.

Teacher Lola's blog is solidly behind this initiative and will be bringing you updates as it unfolds.

Many hearty cheers to the beautiful future of the Kaduna State child, cheers to the beautiful tomorrow of Nigeria.
